I am selling a coaching offer here - and it is an excellent value because I have skills you need and will help you learn them fast.  I want to explain that I've done coaching before, and been coached myself - so let me tell you what doesn't work...

In the past I packaged “mentoring” with a $1500 or $4000 one-time, up-front spend for a money-making website and a training program. I prospered wildly for a time with that model. The problem was people didn't do the work to succeed. Their expectations verged on lunancy and most would do a bit or work, grow discouraged and then just give up.

One problem was their goal was to “make money” or “make sales” - which, to somebody new to running a marketing-driven business is abstract and vague.

When they didn't accomplish this abstract goal easily or quickly, they gave up. I pulled the plug on that coaching model. Even though I could have continued stuffing my pockets with cash doing it, but I didn't feel right about it..

  

How "Internet Marketing Coaching" Usually Works...

A lot of internet marketing coaching programs are sold over the phone by professional sales guys working in phone rooms. You might call them boiler rooms.

I've talked at length with guys on the inside of it - he had his own ethical pains but he was making so much money it was hard to walk away. They call it “the back end”.

They have coaching programs to target anybody with a credit card, but as a median, they'll try to sell you a $5000 package to start. They'll get the money up-front, even if you think you don't have it. Here's how you could be paying like $5k for coaching, up front and still get ripped-off.

When this happens to you, you'll get a call sort of like this:

Then they might ask you about your experience with Guru X, what you liked about the product and so forth. Basically they're looking your “yeses”, indications you might be able and willing to spending more money for coaching.

Then he transfers you to a presentation recording. After you listen to the “closer” gets on the phone with you.

These Guys Have Insider Information They'll Use To Squeeze Money Out Of You - And They Don't Give A Damn If They Bury You In Debt To Make The Sale!

"Sharks" is an appropriate term for these predators, and these phone-sharks have access to your credit information. They're able to “find” ways for you to charge the whole fee, up-front. Because they know the sale often comes down to a high-pressure close they want to get as much as possible up front... because they know most customers will have heavy buyer's remorse as soon as they realized how much they've overpaid.

The sales guys are good, so the sales company takes about half. $2500 and splits it up amongst the owner, the sales manager and the “closer”.

That leaves $2500 left for the service. This gets split up among the guy running the coaching program and the guy providing the leads - say an internet Guru X who has collected your address and phone number in some “free plus shipping” giveaway event. They know you have a credit card because when you ordered the “free” product he got you to pay for shipping. You'll notice these guys don't take PayPal or checks, only a real credit card.

How Would You Feel About Investing $5000 In Coaching and Getting $500 In Value?

Well, that's what happens with some of these coaching deals. That's  because by the time the "Guru", the coaching service and the sales guys have all taken their cut there may be only $500 left to pay the guy who is going to coach you. 

You'd pay about $5000 to get 20-40 hours of coaching from a guy making $10-20 an hour. To say that he's probably not a skilled internet marketer himself is  an understatement. He's a guy with a 3-ring “internet marketing for dummies” binder and his job is to just walk you through the steps in it. While such a service may have value to the genuinely clueless, the $5000 price tag for it puts it in what I would call the “rip off” category.

Now I respect salesmanship and marketing and hustle. That's my game too. It's just that by the time all the middlemen take-away their cuts with most of these programs, there's not much left over to pay the guy who is to coach you... and therefore the price-to-value ration tends to be poor.

Look, this business is frustrating as hell to most people who try to make it work. Most of the coaching will be via email. This makes things clearer. It saves you time and it saves me time. Phone conversations inevitably drift into irrelevancies having little to do with the objective of the call. Email coaching will essentially be unlimited. I may take 12 or more hours to respond to an email if I am not online. You will find my writing insightful and lucid. More importantly, I'll be telling you exactly what you need to do next, in clear action steps, and how to do it. In many cases I'll refer you to online resources to learn essential skills, but (this is important) I'll be available to help you learn to troubleshoot your own projects.
